We are excited to share that the Chinese New Year Festival in Wellington have commissioned 12 public artworks to make up their Zodiac Trail in the city this month. Arts Laureate Daniel Belton with GCA whānau created a new serpent edition of the Astrolabe - Whakaterenga project designed as a print installation for the entrance facade of Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand. The snake zodiac concept depicts head, body and tail across 8 sections in this 15.5m wide interlinked work inspired by the pale speckled kōkopu pounamu. We have for a limited time fine art digital giclée prints now available in a 1.5m roll: https://www.goodcompanyarts.com/prints/astrolabe-pounamu-wide-print
The GCA team is also looking forward to the New Zealand cinema premieres of ASTROLABE - Pounamu, along with new company works TAIAO (POIPOI) and Singapore collaboration piece INFINITE OCTAGON in association with the Chinese New Year Festival Wellington and City Gallery Wellington Te Whare Toi. We are pleased to co-present this event with Xin Ji, Chinese-born New Zealand-based dancer and film maker and his new work ALL GOOD IF NOT.
