For the work NGURU our visual film frame is inspired by the shape of the Pūtōrino embouchure hole, resembling a Butterfly or Moth. The purpose is to encapsulate a safe environment through which the art work can exist as a kind of living tohu. It is the mystery and delicate strength of the insect world which we allude to in this first voyage for the PEPE project titled NGURU. The premise for our research is bound to this significant custodian kaupapa of responsibility as stewards and kaitiaki for Papatūānuku (Mother Earth). With each print sale $3 is donated to the Orokonui Ecosanctuary, Te Wai Pounamu.
