Equilibrist is constructed from oscillating lines and the human figure in space. The lines are being calibrated and re-calibrated through the agency of the dancer. We use the visual matrix of the screen like a tuning field for these kaleidoscopic journeys. This is literally choreographing the screen. The film responds to Paul Klee’s lithograph “Der Seiltänzer”. Here, fantastical characters such as the Fool and the Goose Girl, dance in the screen space.
